In Early April 2016, Global Care hosted a Summit called the Micah68 Summit. The name comes from the biblical reference Micah chapter 8 verse 6. Which talks about what God requires of us: To act justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly.
The Summit had as Keynote speaker, Rev Tim Costello, the CEO of World Vision. He spoke on the imperative of social justice in light of the gospel. He was inspiring. Other speakers spoke of their local Global Care and how they impact their local community through their area of specialty. We heard about Ops Shops, Low-Cost Food Stores, the NILS Program, Advocacy programs, National Others Week, Responding to Natural Disasters to name just a few. Additionally, Global Care International Director Ps Peter Pilt spoke on the mistreatment of women around the world and Global Care’s strategy to be more involved in speaking up for women in countries where they have few rights.
The Summit was an outstanding success and inspired all who attended.
Primarily a volunteer organisation, Global Care has around 2000 active volunteers each week, helping around 10,000 people each day.
